Honeymoon - Hawaii

Hello everyone. Welcome to my blog. I know everyone is waiting for wedding pictures. I don't have them yet, so hopefully you'll settle for a few pictures from our honeymoon in Hawaii.

When we started talking about where we would go for our honeymoon, Gabe had one destination in mind: Hawaii. I wasn't going to argue with that one. Here are some photos from our adventures.

Pearl Harbor: We spent part of our first day in Hawaii at Pearl Harbor. I love visiting historical sites and this one definitely didn't disappoint. We took a boat ride out to the Arizona Memorial. From there, we also got a really good look at the Battleship Missouri.

North Shore: During another day, we had the chance to explore more of the island. We drove around the island and stopped off at the North Shore to check out the waves. This is the area that hard-core surfers surf. We also stopped off at Matsumoto's Shave Ice (a favorite stop of Gabe's from his visits to the island as a child). This area is also known for their shrimp trucks...we stop and check one of those out as well.

Polynesian Cultural Center: This was a great chance to learn about the islands and their history. Once of my favorite parts was the dances they did while being paddled around on a large raft. This particular picture is of the group from Samoa. We ended the evening with a luau and a show.

Haunama Bay: On Saturday, we got up early and went down to Haunama Bay. Wow...what a beautiful area. The pictures don't do it justice. Gabe went snorkeling, I spent some time sunbathing and reading a book.

One of my favorite parts of the trip was the chance to spend time with the Hawaii Higas...what a great group of people. Gabe had not seen some of them in way too long. I feel very blessed to join this family. We hope to go back to Hawaii again sometime soon.
